Disposal of Unsold Bread, Confectionery & Cereal From Supermarkets

Firstly, we provide an economically and ecologically viable outlet for the out of date bread, cake, confectionery and cereal products from supermarkets, confectioners and food manufacturers. Supermarkets currently pay waste specialists to collect this unsold food. The waste contractors then pay landfill companies to tip this food into precious landfill space, or send it to incineration plants which then contribute to the growing greenhouse gas problem. Retaining Unsold Supermarket Food in the Food Chain

Partnering with UK Farm Foods the waste contractors pay a significantly reduced disposal fee, reducing the cost to the supermarkets. From an ecological perspective, the supermarkets and waste contractors improve their green credentials by retaining this unsold food in the food chain rather than wasting rapidly shrinking landfill capacity or incinerating the food.

Nutritious, Easily Digestible Pig Food – At a Fraction of Manufactured  Prices

Secondly, we process and sell the unsold bread, confectionery and cereal product to pig farmers, providing a wholesome, nutritious feed for animals at a fraction of the cost of normal pig feed. Manufactured pig feed is made from imported materials and is a raw product. Having already been cooked, our pig feed is more easily digested by the animal. Please see Our Process for details.

If ever UK pig farmers needed some good news, it is right now. For them, the turmoil in the economy at large is overshadowed by the state of the pig feed market. The price of feed has risen dramatically in 2010 and the prognosis is not good, with further rises expected.
